Para's 10 Race

Para's 10 Race

May

The Charity of the Parachute Regiment, Support our PARAs runs a Bi-annual 10 mile race, called PARA's 10 to raise money. The race is ten miles and there is an option to run it with 35Lbs, like the selection course shown in the recent ITV documentary.

This year marks the 75th anniversary for both D-Day and Arnhem. To tie into this the Charity are looking to have a static display of WW2 British vehicles and equipment on the day.

The organisers would love Airborne vehicles/Airborne marked vehicles and equipment but any WW2 British vehicle would be great. (especially Bedfords)

The site of the static display may be on Abby fields, where the race starts/finishes or on the actual Barracks. This has yet to be decided.

You can contact Rob on the link above for more information if needed.

Join us at the Echoes of History show, in Purleigh, Maldon on the 10th and 11th of August 2019

You can expect to see one of the largest gatherings of Historic Military Vehicles and equipment from all major periods in South East England, featuring the best historic groups, re-enactors and living history displays in the country to give our visitors a real experience of life in times past. There will be a brilliant turn out of military vehicles across all eras and nationalities from push bikes to massive trucks that even make the tanks look small as well as classic cars, bikes and buses.

With an amazing variety of living history exhibitors depicting life from numerous time periods and nationalities, these historical re-enactors always go to massive lengths to represent their chosen time period as authentically as possible and are always happy to answer your questions or demonstrate equipment, so don't be afraid to ask! This is an almost unique opportunity to see how the soldiers of different nationalities and time periods lived as well as getting close to the weapons, equipment and experiencing the atmosphere of the time.

Don’t miss the arena activities that will take place during the day, with military vehicle parades where you can see these historic vehicles in motion, allowing you to get close to a military convoy that includes tanks and armoured vehicles, see and hear them roaring around the arena as well as learning a little about their history. As always, there will be our exciting battles and demonstrations.

Why not take a rest from all the walking and have a break in our huge marquee, listening to or watching our wonderful live 'wartime' entertainment throughout the day?

There's so much more for all the family to get involved in, as well as all the stuff to watch, see and explore. What better way is there for the younger generation to learn about our history than to hear about it from those who made it - our wonderful veterans that are always happy to tell their own story. Tickets for 2019 are priced at £12 for adults, £5 for children for either Saturday or Sunday (if bought in advance) or £15 adult and £6 for children if bought on the day.

Where else would you be able to get up close and personal to your past?
